5 Days, 10 Years And A New iPhone

The fives days in the title of this post is the amount of days we were given off for Veterans Day. And people still ask me why I joined the military, or better yet, why I keep reenlisting.
10 years is the amount of time I have been in the Marines. I completely forgot but on November 12th, I hit my ten year mark. With that comes a small pay raise and the peak of the roller coaster ride. Like the saying goes, “It’s all down hill from here”.
And why do I have a new iPhone? Well during my five days off, I began to realize that part of my iPhone’s screen was not responding to touch. Normally I could live with such a thing but the part of the screen that was responding held a very important location. I could no longer select my GMail to check mail, I could no longer edit contacts and I could not choose the first track of any playlist.
I expected the worse when I decided to head to the Apple Store to get it checked out. I expected to have my phone taken away and either be left with no cell phone until it was fixed or have Apple expect me to pay for a temp phone. Well none of that happened. After explaining the problem, I got a brand new replacement iPhone within ten minutes. No fuss from the Apple employee and no delay. I left the Apple Store the same day with a brand new iPhone.
And that’s how I spent my five days off. 1.5 months to go before I head back to Iraq. Yay!
