Thanksgiving 06

So how was everybody’s Thanksgiving? I hope that everyone had fun and ate lots of good food and enjoyed the company of their loved ones.
My Thanksgiving for was a normal work day as usual. My section doesn’t have the luxury of having time off or days off so we made the most of it here in our comfy bunker. Our CWO basically told us to relax and not do any unnecessary work or start any new projects. The day crew (as well as the night) took this opportunity to watch a couple of movies and basically be lazy for a shift.
We have civilian contractors on shift with us so they manned the phones and took care of any minor problems while we relaxed in our conference room to watch Equilibrium and The Devil’s Rejects. We all chipped in and had pizza for lunch.
Whenever a deployment encompasses a major holiday like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s the chow hall usually goes all out to make deployed troops somewhat feel like home. This time was no exception. I didn’t go to the chow hall for dinner but I heard of all the good food and decorations that I missed. I was hungry but I just didn’t feel like going.
After my shift I just left, got to my room and fell asleep. I felt like I was coming down with something and as I’m typing that, I have. So that was how I spent Thanksgiving of ’06. Christmas and New Year’s are next and they will most likely mirror this day.
