When Is Humping Not Humping?

When Marines are involved. I don’t know why or how but for some reason Marines call forced marches humping. Say hump around Marines and you won’t get giggles or snickers, instead you will get “Why?”, “When?”, “Who dumb idea was it?”, “What the f*ck!”. There is nothing sexual about humping for us.
Different units do different types of humps. You can have a casual hump for unit motivation and camaraderie. You can have conditioning humps that prepare you for war and wear you the hell out. Or you can have a hump like we’re having tomorrow. Notice that I refrained from adding any adjectives to our hump. Humps don’t scare me but I fear tomorrow. I won’t say much more and I’ll leave it at that. The last thing I want to do is get Dooced.
Today our First Sergeant once again wore us out for PT. Everything went down hill went we started off with Side Straddle Hops (jumping jacks for you non-Marine folks) and we went past 100. Just to clear something up, most of our exercises are counts of four which mean you multiply whatever we do by two. I believe we did 155 of them (you do the math). I won’t mention the other exercises we did but after 310 Side Straddle Hops it really doesn’t matter.
I’ll let you know how the hump turns out and whether I choked the shit out of anyone. Bed time bus is here and I must not keep it waiting.
