I really hate the media and most people know that. For that reason I don’t watch the News very much and sometimes am clueless about whats going on around the world. Say what you will because I really don’t care.

If it wasn’t for the affects that are felt over here I wouldn’t be aware of the devastation that Katrina has created. I just finished looking at some pictures of the chaos in New Orleans and surrounding cities. Its worse than I realized. What made it come to light is the fact that we have Marines here that are from New Orleans. The Commanding General has ordered that no one is to return to New Orleans under any circumstance, not even to get their families. Now before you start jumping over cliffs into conclusions think before you think.

Everyone who is here has confirmed that their families are ok so there is nothing to worry about. The only thing uncertain is their homes. The Marines are being taken cared of and some have even left early to start preparing for our Headquarter’s temporary home somewhere else. It could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months before the Marines return to New Orleans.

I don’t know what else to say about this except that if I was in some of their shoes I wouldn’t even know what to do if my family was down in New Orleans. These are one of the few times when being in the military really sucks.
